Happy New Year to everyone and lets hope for a better year!
well.... its Wednesday already..... so a bit late Monday Letter coming after the break...
I am excited and happy to see my students back from holidays, full of energy and eager to tell their winter break stories!
Quickly and surely, we have come back to our daily routines and are ready to continue to work hard and have fun in grade 2. Here a quick snapshot of what we will be studying over the next few weeks:
Language: continuing the same routine of working on small units related to a specific sound and having a dictee every 2 weeks. Also, students will regularly have a chance to work in centers (reading to self, reading to a buddy, writing, word work, listening and guided reading with the teacher).
Math: in Patterning and Algebra : identifying, extending and creating different patterns. Numeration: ongoing problem solving, counting up to 200 in different ways ( forward, backwards, by 1`s, 2`s, 5`s, etc)
Social Studies : finishing the Traditions and Celebrations in Canada
Science : Air and Water Environment : to be started.
Visual Arts: Space and Form: to be started.
Winter Concert is around the corner. so far we know the Kindergarten Concert will be held on January 19th, 2016 and the Grade 1-8 will be on january 20, 206, at 6.30 pm.
Have a nice week!
