Monday letter

Dear Parents,

As the last month of this calendar year is around the corner, we all start feeling the joy and wonder of the holiday season approaching. This will be definitely noticed and encouraged in our class and school with interesting seasonal activities and projects.

Regarding our dance workshop - I have to say I am discovering every day new talents in my grade 2 students! What a wonderful way to learn new dance movements and  present their dance abilities!

Science:
As our first science project ( build a toy truck using simple machines) was finished last week, we are going to start this upcoming week a new unit in science: Properties of Liquids and Solids. More information will be available for you in the red homework duo tang with specific support you may provide your child at home.

Monday Letter

Dear Parents,

After the first two so busy and exciting months in grade 2, I am happy to have this opportunity to inform you about what`s been happening in our class.

I have to mention how lucky I am to teach this group of grade 2 AMAZING, FUNNY, ENERGETIC and HARDWORKING students!

Here are some brief details about what we are studying in our class:

MATH:
We have learned 2 D shapes and 3 D figures in Geometry. Now are are starting to learn about time, calendar and temperature in Measurement. Also, we are consolidating our knowledge in adding and subtracting numbers, as well as number facts, which is to be an ongoing focus for the rest of the year.

LANGUAGE:
We have been working hard to establish our centers routine and already successfully started it. Students are regularly exposed  to different centers, as writing, reading to self, reading to a partner, word study, listening to a story, or guided reading and writing with the teacher. Plus, the language is part of all other subjects, as math, science, social studies and Arts.

SCIENCE :
We have learned about Movement of objects so far and we are about to finish its major project: build a toy truck. Next, our focus is going to be on Properties of liquids and solids unit.

SOCIAL STUDIES:
We have been recently started to learn about Changing family and Community traditions. You may find soon some more info in the homework red duotang.

VISUAL ARTS:
We have studied so far about Line and Shape. Our November and December focus is Color and Value.
